Inland Waterway Walking Trail
By water, this preserve is the last stretch of Crooked Lake shoreline, on the west side, before you hit the locks that drop you into the Crooked River. One trail is located on the preserve on the ten acres of northern fen that extend along the lake frontage. Starting from the gate on Lake Street in Alanson, the 1/4 mile long trail will take you to a scenic spot on the Crooked River. Although there is no boat landing site on these preserves, a gravel surfaced, limited depth boat launch site is located at the end of Lake Street near the Crooked River lock, and provides an access point for paddlers to enjoy the scenic lake frontage of this preserve and the adjacent protected land.
Note: Not all sections of each trail are approved for every activity listed for the trail as a whole. Please click on individual trail sections to see approved activities for that section.
