Lighthouse West Natural Area
Hike through hardwoods and thickets, and stroll along the Lake Michigan shoreline while visiting the Lighthouse West Natural Area. The terrain is relatively flat until you descend a steep bluff to a cobble beach. Enjoy 640 feet of frontage on Lake Michigan.
Lighthouse West Natural Area is known especially for birding. Located at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, thousands of migrating songbirds and broad-winged raptors stop at this preserve to feed and rest before crossing the Lake. Over 120 species of birds have been recorded here.
