Petritz Preserve
Petritz Preserve
The trail leads through the woods to the beach where visitors can enjoy 500 feet of protected Lake Michigan shoreline. From here, Garden, Hog and Squaw Islands can be seen. The beach is also a good place to observe the state-threatened Pitcher's Thistle and Lake Huron Tansy.
The preserve is located within walking distance from St. James Bay and town, at the northeast end of Beaver Island. Access the trail from Lookout Drive, .2 miles north of Lake Drive.
