Sleeping Bear Dunes - Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail
The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail (SBHT) is a paved multi-use trail that extends from Glen Arbor to the Village of Empire via the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore. SBHT provides residents and visitors with a non-motorized transportation alternative and recreational opportunity. It is a unique way to visit the park and access popular park locations such as D.H. Day Campground, the historic village of Glen Haven, the Lake Michigan beach, the Dune Climb, and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. The trail is groomed for cross country skiing from Glen Arbor to the Dune Climb.
When completed, SBHT will stretch 27 miles, from Good Harbor Beach at the north end of the park, to just south of Empire. To learn more about the trail and its progress, visit sleepingbeartrail.org. You can also check out MichiganTrailMaps.com for more trail information and maps.
Note: Not all sections of each trail are approved for every activity listed for the trail as a whole. Please click on individual trail sections to see approved activities for that section.
