TART Trails - Leelanau Trail
Located along the last of Leelanau County’s former railroad corridors, the Leelanau Trail provides a paved off-road connection between Traverse City and Suttons Bay. The trail is part of the TART trail network, an urban transportation and recreational corridor developed for walking, biking, running, in-line skating, and commuting in Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties. The 17-mile route features rolling hills, picturesque forests, orchards, vineyards, meadows, lakes and ponds. During the winter, the trail is groomed from the Cherry Bend trailhead and 4th Street, just south of Suttons Bay.
Bike-n-Ride is a summertime service that offers bikers the option of riding the trail one way and taking the bus back (with bikes onboard). For more information about BATA's Bike-n-Ride program, please visit the BATA website.
Note: Not all sections of each trail are approved for every activity listed for the trail as a whole. Please click on individual trail sections to see approved activities for that section.
